The activities are performed in different laboratories hosting several Vacuum Test Facilities of different size, up to 140 cu.m volume.
The implementation of any new technology in the satellite market requires a careful understanding not only on the performances, but also on the integration issues. For this reason, the research in the aerospace field represents for Aerospazio one of the mandatory missions. One of the main emphasis for the acceptance of new EP system on a telecommunications S/C is placed on the Electromagnetic Compatibility between the EP system and S/C equipment. In this regards Aerospazio developed an EMC chamber specially designed for EP thrusters. Since 2015 this facility is operated for EMC characterization tests required by the major EP primes.
Another important aspect of EP system acceptance is the thermal coupling between the EP system and the S/C. To this aim, a large set of TVAC specialised facilities are presently available at Aerospazio.
