  • The SpaceBUS NEO Satellite Transport Container is suitable for 7 tons satellite and  for transport by road, sea and air by an Antonov air carrier.

    SpaceBus is the new European Satellites Generation class made by Thales-Alenia Space, France (TAS), characterized by large mass and dimensions between 3 to 7 tons satellites. A new concept of spacecraft transport container (SCTC) has been commissioned by TAS for its SpaceBus class satellites to two Italian companies: Alma Sistemi Srl and Garofoli SpA. Specifically ALMA Sistemi provided the design, analysis and supervised the manufacturing and test activities according to European Space Agency ECSS Standards.

    The SPTC has been send from Terni to Cannes by road and sea due to its big dimension (14,0m x 5,5m x 4,2m) not compatible with all roads. The aperture of SCTC is obtained by sliding system of cover, to be compatible with Cape Canaveral facilities; the SCTC sealing is guaranty with a big inflatable gasket 40 meters longer.

    The SCTC is able to maintain the satellite in the specified cleanness ambient (ISO8) offering adequate temperature and humidity conditions and to protect the payload from the loads and shock due to the transportation. SCTC is transportable by air with Antonov 124 and for this reason the 90% about of its structural elements are designed in aluminium to limit the total mass only to 24 tons.
