Campbell most recently served as Alaska’s Lieutenant Governor, having been appointed in 2009 by Governor Sarah Palin. Prior to that, he was the Commissioner for the Alaska Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and the Adjutant General in charge of the Alaska National Guard, retiring in 2009 at the rank of Lieutenant General (AK). In that role, he was instrumental in the development of the missile defense operation at Ft. Greely, Alaska, where the Alaska Army National Guard performs the operations and security missions. Through his leadership, the Alaska National Guard also expanded into space surveillance by transitioning the Air Force operational mission at Clear AFS, Alaska into an associate operation with the Alaska Air National Guard. Mr. Campbell holds degrees from the University of Tulsa, Golden Gate University, and the Naval War College.
