WELCOME TO THE

ABOUT SPACEPORT AMERICA

Spaceport America is the first purpose-built commercial spaceport in the world. The FAA-licensed launch complex, situated on 18,000 acres adjacent to the U.S. Army White Sands Missile Range in southern New Mexico, has a rocket friendly environment of 6,000 square miles of restricted airspace, low population density, a 12,000 feet x 200 feet (3658 m x 61 m) runway, vertical launch complexes, and 340 days of sunshine and low humidity.

LEASE | BUILD | FLY

AT SPACEPORT AMERICA

Lease with us and design your launch sites and facilities at Spaceport America. Become a part of our community of leading aerospace companies. Select your location within our Horizontal Launch Area, Vertical Launch Area or Advanced Technology Area to suit your manufacturing, vehicle, or mission profile needs. The operations teams will support you as you build-to-suit and scale your operation.

AIRSPACE

Spaceport America provides access to both the National Airspace System (NAS) and 6,000 square miles of restricted airspace from surface to unlimited. This unique environment creates a quiet zone with minimal commercial aviation traffic that reinforces privacy and allows the safe testing of new designs with fewer regulatory delays.

SERVICES

Our streamlined policies, exemplary in-house teams and partnerships with U.S. Army White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) and other organizations enable us to meet unique demands and source equipment, materials, and capabilities at preferred rates. This includes access to WSMR assets such as tracking radar, optics, and weather measurement and forecasting support.

Horizontal Launch and Landing Area (HLA)

The HLA at Spaceport America is available for new and expanding suborbital launch providers, unmanned aerial vehicle operators and other aerospace-related businesses to thrive in a location that maximizes security and privacy. Our HLA features a 12,000 feet x 200 feet (3658 m x 61 m) runway that provides year-round access to restricted airspace that is well away from populated areas. Spaceport America can support all types and sizes of aircraft and spacecraft vehicles.

Vertical Launch Area (VLA)

The VLA has over two square miles of developed facilities and space for new facilities. Many of the existing facilities are dedicated to specific customers, with launch pads, launch rails, and similar infrastructure. Other existing facilities can be leased on a long-term or short-term basis. Leasable facilities include four modular buildings that can be used for payload processing and launch control, two 10m diameter, general-purpose launchpads, and a 200-ft square launch pad. When existing facilities do not meet requirements, Spaceport America will work with prospective customers to develop new facilities that do meet requirements.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY AREA (ATA)

The Advance Technology Area is for non-traditional innovative launch technologies or other aerospace technology development. The ATA is purposely positioned away from the horizontal and vertical launch areas to allow separation for different kinds of tests.

ROCKET ENGINE TESTING

Spaceport America offers facilities to support rocket engine testing. Our rocket test stand constructed by Highland Enterprises of Las Cruces, New Mexico was designed, fabricated, and installed at Spaceport America in 2021.

THE SOC

The Spaceport Operations Center is the heart of all missions at Spaceport America. It houses an on-site emergency response team, covering security and specialist fire and emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our airfield and airspace management team, facilities support, IT, project managers, aerospace engineers and public relations specialist are all on hand to support your mission. Spaceport America is the right place for your flight.
